Covid-19 update: Activities to be delivered online during January

With the recent news and announcements concerning the continuing spread of Covid-19 locally, Albion in the Community has decided that face-to-face group activities will be replaced by virtual online delivery (where possible) until Monday 18 January at the earliest, to play our role in reducing the risk of the spread of Covid-19 and to keep our participants, staff and wider community safe.

The charity runs more than 60 different projects throughout the local area, supporting upwards of 40,000 people every year. Currently, community delivery will be adapted in the following ways:

  • From Monday 4 January 2021, in-person community football sessions will not take place until Monday 18 January at the earliest.  This will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and in line with government guidance.

  • Where schools remain open and request the charity’s support, in-school activities will continue under strict guidelines.

  • Delivery of our wider charitable activities such as further education, health and disability programmes will continue remotely until further notice.

The charity remains committed to supporting our vulnerable participants via access to virtual support, one-to-one support (where appropriate and in line with government guidance) and regular wellbeing check-ins over the coming weeks.

Chief Executive Matt Dorn said: “This is not a decision the charity has taken lightly, but the safety of our participants and staff is paramount at this time. We recognise that this is a fast-moving situation, and we want to play our role in keeping our communities safe and protecting our NHS from being overwhelmed by limiting the face-to-face group gatherings we are responsible for locally.”

The charity will be regularly reviewing the situation in line with government, Premier League and FA guidance over the coming weeks and throughout January.
